About US

HISTORY The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, California State University, Long Beach student chapter, provides for the academic, professional, and personal development of the Hispanic student community.  Through funding that allows the pursuance of SHPE’s goals, we will be granted the privilege of continuing a tradition of building strong, competent leaders within the Hispanic community. By providing events and activities that stimulate community interaction, academic achievement, leadership, and professionalism, SHPE allows each student to make the most out of his or her talents for the betterment of the organization, the university, the community, and themselves.  Throughout the years, SHPE has re-engineered, organized, and hosted numerous successful events, as well as integrating new events into its semester calendars.    SHPE CSULB was founded in 1977 to address the issue of low number of Hispanic students entering the fields of engineering, mathematics, physical and computer science, and other technical fields.  Furthermore, SHPE fosters students on the path to graduation and acts as a pipeline to the professional sector.
