SHPE Jr. Chapter: Firebaugh High School

Members of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers at the California State University of Long Beach are committed to assist the development of the Long Beach and Southern California neighborhood at both the professional and academic level. Our chapter reaches out to local schools and provides mentors that can cultivate support for educational development and promote higher education. We are determined to provide a STEM-driven curriculum that can allow elementary and middle school children to explore and grow as individuals by overcoming unfounded fears in the fields of Physics and Mathematics.

We expect that by establishing a connection with young minds at an early age, many of these students will be inspired and motivated to become critical thinkers; raise expectations for both themselves and those around them; and ultimately become leaders in their community and future outspoken professionals that will voice the same foundations in their respective careers and future responsibilities. We're currently reaching out to elementary and middle school students at Will Rogers Elementary and conduct various STEM-related activities.

Our chapter strongly believes in making an impact in the lives of those around us, and as such, we hope to uphold social accountability as a tool that will make both our members and those we hope to reach assets of a better future and a more progressive ethical society.
